Miss Detroit III : Ken Muscatel from Seattle. All wood boat powered by a 1916 Curtiss V4 V-12 (one of two known to exist) , the 1650 cubic inch Curtiss V-12 still uses M4 Stromberg carburetors. And the rest is just pure art.
Does it run? You betcha.
Want some build pics? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . How about some !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the madman who built it?

Last time I was in Westhampton beach NY I saw a wooden Chris Craft (?) with a Shelby 427 side oiler. The owner knew his stuff cold so I assume it was a real engine.

Does this thing have no throttle? As soon as he cranked it over it just instantly was at full throttle.

Found some more info here. http://www.woodyboater.com/classic-boats/…
It appears to be direct drive based on it taking off as soon as the engine turns over.
And the engine being run on the test stand.
